Whether she’s dressed up in a micro miniskirt or dressed down in a sweatsuit, it’s hard to find a bad photo of Winnie Harlow. The supermodel is as poised as she is beautiful, acknowledging some of her more successful paparazzi photos is thanks to fellow supermodel Bella Hadid. “I just saw how she turns on,” Harlow explains. “We were in the car together, and she put her hair up in a little messy bun and grabbed her lip gloss, swiped it on, zhooshed herself, looked in the mirror… the poise was just there from when she opened that door.” Here, Harlow shares some of her go-to pieces, like a trench coat from Off-White by the late Virgil Abloh. Harlow also sports a head-to-toe Versace look for a girls’ night out. “Donatella is my spirit animal. I am very obsessed with her,” Harlow explains. Here, walk through a week in Harlow’s wardrobe in the latest installment of 7 Days, 7 Looks.
“I love to wear neutral colors,” says the supermodel. Harlow’s look for meetings plays off denim as a neutral color with a pair of Ksubi jeans paired with a similar-hued sparkling trench coat by Off-White. “This jacket makes me feel really strong and powerful,” Harlow explains. “It’s made by Virgil [Abloh]. It makes me feel very special wearing it. He was a very special person and someone who inspired so many people around the world.”
For a girls’ night out, Harlow opts for a head-to-toe Versace outfit featuring a micro miniskirt, chainmail top, and platform heels. “I feel like Donatella is my spirit animal,” says the supermodel. “I am very obsessed with her. Everything is very gaudy and loud and I feel like that is so Caribbean, so she must be Caribbean at heart. Me and her need to go to Carnival together.” Harlow explains how her roots play a role in her confidence, “what I love about Caribbeans when it comes to carnival is no one is insecure about their body, Nobody cares about what other people think, and I feel like that also helped me being a Caribbean woman, being someone who is different as well, to have thick skin and get to a place of confidence.”
“I travel all the time, and I’ve created quite the formula now for staying comfy,” says the supermodel. “I love to wear a matching suit set, and then I just throw on a pair of sneakers that compliment the outfit, and if it’s cold… I’ll put a jacket on top.” To punctuate the look, Harlow uses her boyfriend’s Louis Vuitton duffle. “It was designed by Virgil for the NBA championship,” Harlow explains. “This was the year my boyfriend won the championship with the Lakers, so he got this duffle, but that really meant I won the duffle.”
For a day spent shopping, Harlow explains how “if it was up to me, I would wear sweatpants and a t-shirt and make it cute.” Her friends, however, love to get dressed and “wouldn’t let her” wear sweats, which means the model instead opts for a lacy Valentino mini dress, Paris Texas boots, and a Jimmy Choo bag.
Harlow and her boyfriend started dating in the pandemic, which meant a lot of sweats upon first getting to know one another. “I wore a lot of his clothes, his big t-shirts. Now he gets to see me all glammed up,” the supermodel laughs. Now, a fitted, embellished mini dress by Area paired with her go-to Tom Ford heels makes for the perfect date night look. “I feel like they give me a good height, make the long legs look long as ever, and are also comfortable.”
For a Saturday spent lunching with her friends, the ideal dressed-up daytime look entails a floor-sweeping printed dress by Etro that boasts a halter neck at the front, with a nude heeled mule by Fendi, and a same-hued Chanel bag.
“This is the kind of look I’d wear in New York Fashion Week in September,” says Harlow. “I feel like Sailor moon,” she says in an oversized Thom Browne button-up and blazer cinched at the waist with a Dior Saddle bag. The supermodel likes to wear button-ups to get in and out of runway looks during fashion week with ease.
